Aim: press on the table and drag, and the cue ball heads for your finger. Fine-tune with the ribbed wheel, the mouse wheel or ←→ (hold to swing faster; Shift for the finest steps).
Shoot: pull the cue down the power bar and let go, or hold Space and release.
Spin: tap the cue ball icon to strike above centre (follow), below (draw) or to the side (english).WASD work too.
Break from behind the line. The table is open until someone pots a ball: that's their group, solids or stripes.
Fouls give the other player ball in hand anywhere: scratching, missing everything, hitting the wrong ball first (the 8 first counts, until your group is cleared), or no ball reaching a cushion. A scratch on the break gives ball in hand behind the line only, and that shot may not go straight at a ball lying behind the line too.
The 8 on the break is neither a win nor a loss: it goes back on its spot and the breaker plays on.
Cleared your group? Then you must call a pocket for the 8 before you shoot: tap one, or aim at the 8 to call the pocket it's heading for. Sink it there to win. Sinking the 8 too early (before your group is cleared), with the cue ball or on any other foul, or in a pocket you didn't call loses the rack.
You win!
