Eat food to grow, and don't crash into walls, obstacles, or a body (yours or theirs). Play classic, bring a friend for local 2-player, or take on the Labyrinth, where the π» Maze Chase and π₯ Fire Eggs live too.
π Food: eat it to grow one segment and speed up slightly.
β¦ Obstacles: solid blocks scattered across the board; crashing into one ends your run.
π Portals: two color-matched pairs (orangeβorange, purpleβpurple); enter one end, exit the other end of the same color still moving the same direction. They jump to new spots every third time a snake goes through one.
ππ 2-Player: share the board and the food. Crash into a wall, obstacle, yourself, or the other snake and you're out. Head-on collisions kill both.
Labyrinth legend
π β πͺ: eat every red apple to unlock the arch, then reach it before the clock runs out. A locked arch is a wall. Crash and you retry the level at once; a second arch π (warp) skips ahead.
β€ Pack runs: Ziggy's rules, a whole zone on 9 lives. 1-ups, every 50 apples and leftover time (1 apple per 5 s) win lives back; crashing, restarting or quitting costs one. 1-ups and π‘ golden apples (+5 apples) only appear on runs.
π Stages: Classic rules on hand-built boards, where apples keep growing back, you speed up, no exit. π Arena: last snake standing against rival snakes, with a friend on the same keyboard (P1 WASD, P2 ββββ)device (a d-pad each) if you like.
π» Maze Chase: eat every gold bead in the maze while four temple guardians hunt you on 3 lives. Here you never grow, walls just stop you, a turn pressed early waits for the next opening, and pressing backwards flips you end for end. A β sunstone turns the guardians pale: bite them while they flee (200, 400, 800, 1600). A golden apple appears at your start twice a maze. Clear a maze and the next one is faster.
π₯ Fire Eggs: a blast arena against rival snakes (or with a friend). Hold a direction to slither and let go to stop; Space or E (P2: Enter, or π₯ on the d-pad)π₯ on the d-pad lays a fire egg where your head is. It bursts into a cross of flame that cracks clay urns, sets off other eggs and burns any snake it touches: you included. Urns hide π₯ longer blasts, π₯ more eggs at once and β‘ speed. Last snake standing takes the round, first to 3 the match; after 90 s the arena closes in.
β¦ Blink apple: one teleport. Click (or tap) any open cell and your head jumps there.
π» Ghost apple: fills the ghost meter. Hold G, right-click, or π» to pass through walls, doors and bodies. Ghosts can't use the exit.
π Fast apple: a permanent speed-up for this level. Sprint any time: hold a direction for a moment, tap it twice, or hold Shift / β‘.
π Watermelon: only enemies can eat it; to you it's a wall.
π Portals & pads: matching portals are linked and you keep your heading. Numbered teleport pads only send one way.
π§ Ice: you can't turn on it. Queue your turn for when you slide off.
π Dream blocks: you shoot straight through as a skeleton, with no steering, you pass through yourself, and a wall bounces you back. β‘ Storm tiles: you fly fast toward your pointer (your finger on a phone; ββββ without one)finger.
π§ Doors & switches: doors come in amber, cyan and magenta. Rolling over a round switch flips every door of its colour: shut ones open, open ones shut. Square π± switches flip when you click or tap them (or press 1 / 2 / 3).
πΊ Spikes: they rise and fall on a beat, flashing red just before rising. Raised spikes cut any part of you. In a level with bronze studs there's no beat: stepping on a stud flips every spike field, so make sure your tail is clear first.
β Cutter: trims whoever enters it down to three segments. β Infinity machine: whoever enters it grows every move until a cutter. Cloner: a twin appears at the outlet and obeys your turns.
β¬ Darkness: snakes vanish in it. Apples don't.
π Enemies: wanderers roam, hunters try to cut you off, munchers race you for apples, drifters go straight then turn right, loopers circle with a wall on their right, zippers are just fast, metal snakes shrug off spikes, copycats copy your turns, ghosts glide or hunt through walls, Mouse Eaters chase your cursor and stall your mouse powers, and the Rainbow never crashes: box it in. Your head hitting them kills you; their head hitting you kills them.
π Serpent King: the boss slides through walls after you, summons worms and grows spike flowers (a flashing red ring warns first). Only golden damage fruit hurts it; the exit opens when it falls.
